Exciting Job Opportunity – Trade Advisor
Our client The Embassy of Denmark in Nairobi ¡s seeking to recruit a dynamic, qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Trade Advisor to join the Business team within the Trade Council Unit.
The team acts as the entry to the one stop shop for the Danish companies and Kenyan business partners to the resources, instruments and services available at the Danish Embassy.
Reporting to the Counselor, Business Sector, the role of the Trade Advisor will be to provide high level strategic advice to Danish companies wishing to enter the Kenyan market or to invest in various sectors of the economy in Kenya.
The Advisor will be expected to apply private sector and entrepreneurial skills as well as insights in helping Danish companies develop appropriate strategies for entering the market and/or investing in the country.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise Danish companies on potential market opportunities and investments in Kenya;
  • Assist the companies identifying potential partners and business opportunities;
  • Carry out in-depth analysis of market and business conditions;
  • Assist Danish companies in the development of business models, strategies and financial solutions;
  • Develop solutions on issues facing Danish companies and their Kenyan partners and solve concrete issues related to local requirements for establishment of new businesses; and
  • Undertake high level outreach and networking and initiate and maintain an active client contacts list.
Person Specifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • A Bachelors degree in Business or related field. A Masters degree would be an added advantage;
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the private sector, ideally in a complex business environment;
  • Ability to work in a team and experience of living and working in different cultures;
  • An understanding of financial and investment instruments and broad investment regulatory framework of the country;
  • Ability to promote and advise new business as well as experience in strategic and operational issues;
  • Proficiency in IT systems, customer relations management; financial systems and social media platforms; and
  • Personal drive, excellent commercial, written and oral communication and demonstrated networking skills.
Having lived and worked in Kenya, understanding of its private sector, good political insights, as well as knowledge of Danish language and of Danish companies will be added advantages.

The IRC implements programs in the areas of comprehensive primary health care, nutrition, protection, peace building, water and sanitation and hygiene (WASH), HIV/AIDS prevention, response to gender based violence, disaster risk reduction (DRR), livelihoods and governance.

Maternity Nurse-Kakuma

Description Working under the guidance and supervision of the Midwife In charge of the Maternity Unit, the maternity nurse will be directly responsible for;

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing, monitoring, and examining mothers during pregnancy and in labor.
  • Developing, assessing and evaluating individual programs of care.
  • Providing full antenatal care, including counseling and screening tests in the hospital.
  • Identifying high risk pregnancies and making referral to clinicians and other medical specialist.
  • Arranging and providing parenting and health education for the mother, her partner and family members
  • Responsible for the delivery of the mother, ensuring the safety of both the mother and child.
  • Offering support and advice following events such as miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death.
  • Supervising and assisting mothers in labor, monitoring labor using the partograph and writing of nursing care plans.
  • Ensure that all relevant records are properly kept and updated
  • Arrange and submit work schedules, plan duties and responsibilities for staff in the unit.
  • Monitor and supervise rational use of supplies.
  • Maintain equipment in good condition and submit regular inventory reports of the same.
  • Conduct regular Continuous Medical Education and On-job trainings to staff in the unit.
  • Attend the hospital staff meeting and the reproductive health meetings.
  • Conduct weekly ward meetings.
  • Compile and submit weekly HIS reports.
  • Ensure that the birth Registration of babies is carried out, list compiled and submitted to UNHCR monthly.
  • Advising the mother on proper care of the child including; Breastfeeding and immunization.
  • Carry out other relevant and/or requested duties as may be required by the supervisor
Minimum requirements
  • Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN)/ Kenya Registered Midwife. (KRM) and be registered by the nursing council.
  • At least two years experience working in a busy maternity unit.
  • Life support Skills on obstetric and neonatal care.
  • Team player and cultural sensitivity is required.
  • Ability to work in hardship areas (Previous experience in a Camp setting will be an added advantage).
  • Fluency in Turkana/Somali will be an added advantage

The trainees selected should be willing and eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in TV production. Production Trainees
Reporting to the Producer, the Production Trainees will be responsible for all the organization that goes into the production of a complete television show.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Organize for the shoots by arranging transportation, searching for good locations, scheduling appointments, calling up actors, setting call times, arranging equipment etc.
  • Gather, organize and coordinate scripts, props, sets, talent, facilities and other things needs for the productions.
  • Ensure that all shoots meet the quality standards for the show.
  • Ensure that all production equipment are in good working order.
  • Receive and return production equipment used during shoots.
  • Any other task that may be given by the Producer/Director.
Qualifications required:
  • Diploma in Media Production, Mass Communication or any other relevant technical field.
  • Organization skills.
  • Computer skills.
